UAE, Bahrain, Qatar and Iraq won the titles at the UAE Open Boxing Championships

Thirty-six boxers celebrated their gold medals at the UAE Open Boxing Championships in Abu Dhabi after the third competition day. The host United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar and Iraq shared the gold medals in the three-day long competition.

ASBC Secretary General Mr. Ali Salameh and ASBC Competition Director Mr. Bassam Ghanem were both are at the venue and follow the bouts of the UAE Open Boxing Championships. The UAE Open Boxing Championships was held for both genders and for boxers in the elite, youth and junior age groups.

Nawaf Aljahani (46kg) and Fahad Taymour (48kg) won the first junior finals in Abu Dhabi, both boxers impressed in the day of the title contests. Ahmed Ali Al-Mansuri defeated Zayed Al-Zaabi at the junior light bantamweight (52kg) final and he achieved Abu Dhabi’s first title in the UAE Open.

Qatar celebrated two titles in the junior age group, their Yousef Mohammed Abdelhad won the title of the lightweight (60kg) after beating Recardo Fostnela. Ali Reda Rushan, another boxer from Qatar, had a narrow victory over Ahmed Zeyad Sajed at the junior light welterweight (63kg).

Bahrain’s Ali Bukhlaf is the most experienced youth boxer in the whole Gulf region and the 18-year-old boxer proved his strong talent in Abu Dhabi as well. Following his success in the semi-finals, he knocked out a local boy, Mohammed Taha and won the title of the youth welterweight (67kg).

Seyed Ali Seyedsadegh won the tightest youth final in the Open, he defeated Haider Alsamarae only by 3:2 split decision at the light heavyweight (80kg). Abdullah Saif Al-Shihi (63.5kg), Saif Khaled (71kg) and Mohammed Qasem (86kg) were all proved their talents in these youth finals.

Mohammed Benarab was expected a hard super heavyweight (+92kg) final against Soud Salem Alabri but he knocked out his rival in the first round. Jawaher Gareeb was ASBC medallist, the first girl for the UAE and she had a strong performance against Aletta Item at the women’s youth flyweight (51kg).

Hala Saleh Rashidi had a remarkable final round against Nissa Mahdi of Abu Dhabi and she earned the first female elite gold medal in the Open. Anita Aryan was too strong for her rival at the lightweight (60kg) while Huda Sajjal stopped Robyn Donalad at the women’s welterweight (66kg) final.

Bahrain’s elite stars as Azat Makhmetov (54kg), Nurzhan Mussabayev (86kg), Rasheed Mehrilfar (92kg) and Denys Latypov (+92kg) all won their elite weight categories in Abu Dhabi. Among them Makhmetov and Latypov will represent Team Bahrain with coach Mr. Tony Davis at the upcoming Asian Games.

United Arab Emirates’ Amer Al-Suwaider was brilliant once again and his technical skills dominated his welterweight (67kg) final against Khaled Azzam. Nawaf Ali Khamees (57kg) and Husain Alkandari (71kg) were UAE’s further top gold medallists while Iraq’s lone title was achieved by Amer Mohammed Al-Hasan.
