The boxing event of the East Asian Youth Games will start tomorrow

The new edition of the East Asian Youth Games is another important multisport event this summer. Mongolia’s capital city, the historic Ulaanbaatar is the host of the new competition and it will be starting on August 16 until the 23rd. The Official Draw of the East Asian Youth Games confirmed the participation of the strong teams of the region.

China, DPR Korea, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Macau, host Mongolia, Chinese Taipei and Guam have the rights to compete in the East Asian Youth Games this August. Among them China, Japan, South Korea, Mongolia, and Chinese Taipei sent boxers to the East Asian Youth Games.

More than 1500 athletes will participate in the East Asian Youth Games in 11 sports including athletics, badminton, basketball, boxing, esports, football, judo, table tennis, taekwondo, volleyball and wrestling.

Altogether 14 female and 29 male boxers are participating for the ten available titles in Mongolia’s capital. Boxers who were born in 2005 and in 2006 are eligible to participate in the East Asian Youth Games. The venue of the boxing event of the Games is the Mongolian Wrestling Palace which has the capacity of 2,500 spectators. 

The women boxers will be competing at the light flyweight (50kg), bantamweight (54kg) and lightweight (60kg) in Ulaanbaatar from tomorrow. The male boxers compete in seven divisions, at the minimumweight (48kg), flyweight (51kg), bantamweight (54kg), featherweight (57kg), lightweight (60kg), light welterweight (63.5kg) and welterweight (67kg).  

Experienced talents, such as Mongolia’s Saruul Batsaikhan, China’s Liu Qianfang, Japan’s Miku Oikawa and South Korea’s Park Hye Ji are all on the board of the women’s part of the East Asian Youth Games. Several of these youth talents from the East Asian region are planning to participate in the ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships as well.

The first competition day contains seven quarter-final bouts in Ulaanbaatar and will be starting tomorrow from 15:00 local time.
