The 15th Shokhr Boltekuly Memorial Tournament will take place in Aktau on September 19-25
The Kostanay Coaches Memorial Tournament will be held in Kostanay, Kazakhstan between September 19 and 24. Another international elite male event will be held in the same time in Kazakhstan, the 15th Shokhr Boltekuly Memorial which is scheduled to be hosted in Aktau.
The organizer of the traditional international tournament is the Boxing Federation of the Mangystau Region. The date of the arrival for the five-days long competition is September 19 and all of the 13 official male divisions will be in actions in Aktau from the minimumweight (48kg) up to the super heavyweight (+92kg).
Mr. Shokhr Boltekuly was one of the pioneers of boxing in Kazakhstan, he had an important role to build up the sport in the country during the period of the Soviet Union still in the 1920s and 1930s. He trained several generation of boxers in Kazakhstan and the event holds the name of the iconic boxing coach.
The 14th Shokhr Boltekuly Memorial Tournament was the last edition and thirteen final contests were on the official program in Aktau, Kazakhstan one year ago. Almost all of the winners were from the U22 age group in this five-days long international tournament in 2022. Kazakhstan’s veteran star, the Olympic Games bronze medallist Kamshybek Kunkabayev was back on track and he won the title at the super heavyweight (+92kg) in Aktau. Altogether 130 boxers took part in the 14th edition of the Shokhr Boltekuly Memorial Tournament from Azerbaijan, host Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Tajikistan, Thailand, and Uzbekistan.
