Kyrgyzstan’s ASBC Asian Youth Champion Almaz Orozbekov had an impressive opening at the CIS Youth Games

Twenty quarter-finals were on the official program of the third competition day at the Commonwealth of Independent States Games in Belarus. Kyrgyzstan’s No.1, the ASBC Asian Youth Champion Almaz Orozbekov made a successful debut in his new weight class and he eliminated a tough local boy.

Kyrgyzstan’s defending ASBC Asian Youth Champion Almaz Orozbekov is their best talent who dominated all of his events in 2023. He moved up to the welterweight (67kg) but he had the speed and strength to beat Belarus’ Maksim Zhurauleu controlling all of the three rounds in his opening contest.

Kyrgyzstan won two important contests on Day2 and the Central Asian boxing power continued that in the same way on Day3. Orozbekov’s teammate, another experienced ASBC competitor from various age groups, Mukhammadaziz Zakirov did not give any chance to Turkmenistan’s Ashyrgeldi Nuryagdyyev and stopped him in the first round.

Turkmenistan sent their best five youth talents to the CIS Games and their first winner in the event was Yhlas Bagtyyarov at the middleweight (75kg). The 17-year-old Turkmen is new in the national youth team but he had the technical skills to beat Belarus’ Ivan Labazanau winning the bout unanimously.

Uzbekistan’ Youth World Champion Fazliddin Erkinboyev had an easy opener and he eliminated his second rival, Kyrgyzstan’s Atai Asanbekov at the middleweight (75kg). The 18-year-old promising star stopped his opponent in the second round and proved the same strong performance as Samandar Olimov who was untouchable for Belarus’ Zakhar Viasialouski at the bantamweight (54kg).

Uzbekistan’s next star, Javokhir Ummataliyev, who had the same strong pedigree as Erkinboyev, stopped Azerbaijan’s Ilfan Khalili at the light heavyweight (80kg). The next Uzbek, the 17-year-old Khalimjon Mamasoliyev also stopped his rival, Turkmenistan’s Mekan Durdyyev. Tajikistan’s Youth National Champion at the heavyweight (92kg), Ruslan Fedorin was too strong for Kyrgyzstan’s Rafael Niyazov.
