Nesar won the busiest weight class at the Afghanistan Junior National Championships

The Afghanistan National Boxing Federation hosted the Shahid Hameedullah Memorial Tournament for the junior and schoolboys talents last week. Their next competition, the Afghanistan Men’s Junior National Championships is underway for the 2007 and 2008 born boxers these days.
The competition was hosted by the Afghanistan National Boxing Federation with the Afghanistan National Olympic Committee at the Physical Education & Sport Centre in Kabul. The 15 and 16-year-old male talents are able to compete in all of the 13 official weight categories from the pinweight (46kg) up to the heavyweight (+80kg).
The pinweight (46kg) is a very crowded category in this Afghanistan Junior National Championships, altogether 46 talents are competing for the medals. Nesar, the winner of the smallest weight class is the sparring partner of Afghanistan’s ASBC Asian Schoolboys Boxing Championships bronze medallist Mohammad Younus Amiri. The 15-year-old talent from the Furqan Boxing Club defeated Mohammad Murtaza in one of the best finals of the national event.
Nesar’s teammate in the Furqan Boxing Club, Tamim was well-prepared to take the title of the flyweight (50kg) but he lost to Mashal Markazi’s Said Hares in the final. Another promising talent, Rabiullah was too strong for Mirwais of Furqan at the bantamweight (54kg) taking the second gold for the Jawanan Shahrara after Milad’s success at the light bantamweight (52kg).
Three further boxers from the Furqan Boxing Club advanced to the finals but finally claimed silver medals in Kabul. Altogether 25 boxers competed at the busy featherweight (57kg) which was won by Ahmad Ali who defeated Mohammad Hijran and Matiullah of Furqan in the final stages of the national competition.
Hotak Maiwand’s Said Ikram earned a silver medal at the 52kg weight class in the 2020 edition of the Afghanistan Schoolboys National Championships. The 16-year-old boxer moved up to the lightweight (60kg) this year and advanced to the final but surprisingly Jawanan Maiwand’s Roman stopped him.
Shabir Ullah trains in the capital and he dominated the light heavyweight (80kg) controlling his semi-final and final over Abdulkhaleq and Omar Farooq. Bakhtar’s Mohammad won the last title of the competition, he defeated Oqab’s Oman at the heavyweight (+80kg).
The Afghans are planning to participate in the upcoming ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships which will be re-scheduled soon.
