Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Vietnam were on the top of the podiums at the Ferghana Khokim Women’s Cup
The Ferghana Khokim Women’s Cup of the Region were held at the Samo Sports Complex in the city of Ferghana, Uzbekistan. The host Uzbeks earned eight gold medals while Kazakhstan and Vietnam both achieved two titles in Ferghana. Uzbekistan’s ASBC Champion Feruza Kazakova won important selection contests before the Asian Games.
Uzbekistan, Vietnam and Japan trained together for the upcoming Asian Games which will be starting in Hangzhou, China from September 23. The training was held in Yangiabad in Uzbekistan from July 5 until July 20 supporting the joint preparations with sparring, physical and technical trainings. Following the camp, an international female event took place in Ferghana and Vietnam also joined to the competitions.
Altogether 68 female boxers competed for the 12 titles at the Ferghana Khokim Women’s Cup in Uzbekistan. Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, host Uzbekistan and Vietnam were the participating countries in this new female international competition.
Uzbekistan’s Gulsevar Ganiyeva, the 2022 Youth World Champion, had a tough battle against ASBC Asian U22 Champion Farzona Fozilova but the younger 18-year-old talent defeated her top rival at the minimumweight (48kg).
Uzbekistan’s ASBC Asian U22 Champion 20-year-old Feruza Kazakova won two important selection bouts in this event, she defeated the World Boxing Championships bronze medallist veteran Aziza Yokubova and the multiple ASBC Champion Sabina Bobokulova at the light flyweight (50kg).
The Youth World Champion Nigina Uktamova enjoyed her participation in Ferghana and she defeated her main national rival, Mukhlisa Khushvaktova at the bantamweight (54kg). The Olympic Games quarter-finalist Raykhona Kodirova defeated Dilfuza Bekova at the lightweight (60kg) and the 30-year-old boxer returned with top performance.
The ASBC Asian Elite Champion Navbakhor Khamidova defeated a super talented Kazakh boxer, Bakyt Seidish at the welterweight (66kg) and she remained unbeaten in Asia. The two-time ASBC Asian Youth Champion Aziza Zokirova moved up to the middleweight (75kg) but she had the technical skills to beat Sokhiba Ruzmetova in the final.
Vietnam sent a strong team to the event and two of their boxers succeeded in the competition, firstly Nguyen Thi Ngoc Tran won the flyweight (52kg) final against a local girl, Nozimakhon Bulturova. The SEA Games winner Ha Thi Linh became their second gold medallist, she defeated a young Uzbek girl, Sitora Bakhodirova at the light welterweight (63kg).
Kazakhstan bagged two gold medals in the competition, their next generation, the youngest boxers shined in Ferghana. ASBC Asian Youth Champion Ulzhan Sarsenbek is an 18-year-old talent but she was too strong for Tajikistan’s ASBC medallist Mizhgona Samadova and Uzbekistan’s Khumorabonu Mamajonova. Another teenager, Assel Toktassyn defeated a World medallist Uzbek, Mokhira Abdullayeva, and she achieved Kazakhstan’s second title.
