Veteran female boxers as Endang, Suguro and Jembay are on the throne of the Indonesian Women’s National Championships

The Indonesian Elite National Championships started ten days ago in the city of Makassar and the long competition has finished with its women’s finals. Indonesia’s veteran female boxers such as Endang, Aldriani Beatrichx Suguro and Christina Marwan Jembay all returned to the top of the podium.

The Provincial Management of the Indonesian Amateur Boxing Association of South Sulawesi arranged fantastic environment to this championship. The Makassar Sports & Convention Centre is a new sport facility where 284 boxers from 22 provinces competed for the titles of the championships.

Endang represented Indonesia at the 2019 Women’s World Boxing Championships but she had very difficult contests during her road to the finals in Makassar. She would have been faced the 19-year-old Israellah Athena Saweho for the title but her young rival was unable to box her in the last competition day.

Yuliana Pudi had a tough semi-final but she survived that bout against Stevani Malaor and marched to the finals at the light flyweight (50kg). She had experiences from various national events and she worked well in the final to beat Glesia Sandra Mauri for the title winning this bout unanimously.

Aldriani Beatrichx Suguro competed for Indonesia already at the 2014 Women’s World Boxing Championships and she was too experienced for all of her four rivals including Yudit Elisabet Maunino in the final. In the absence of Indonesia’s SEA Games competitor, Novita Sinadia, a younger talent, Hindriaw Ati Haer won the gold medal at the bantamweight (54kg).

Maria Manguntu stopped and knocked out her rivals during the way to the finals of the featherweight (57kg) where she caused the main sensation with her success over an Olympic Qualification Event competitor, Ratu Silpalau. The ASBC Asian Boxing Championships silver medallist Huswatun Hasanah missed the event but Reka Mariana Kasibulan impressed at the lightweight (60kg).

Ildawati had three tough contests in the event but she defeated Jubaitul, Wilma Kawi Mayor Sroyer and Irawati Rumbia as well. Christina Marwan Jembay, the 2015 SEA Games silver medallist, moved up to the welterweight (66kg) successfully and she took the title against Ari Marsiana.
