A junior talent, Ahmed Attia was named as the best boxer at the Bahrain Domestic Boxing Event

The Bahrain Domestic Boxing Event took place in Ar-Rifa at the Hawar International School and 25 boxers won awards in the competition.

The head coach of the national team, the famous former English boxer, Mr. Tony Davies followed all of the bouts and the performance of the younger generations. The coach and official invested many efforts to develop Bahrain’s boxing life in the recent more than four years and the country returned to the Asian boxing map.

The best team of the Bahrain Domestic Boxing Event was the JD Boxing with their six victories in the event. Mr. Khalifa Al-Turki received the best coach award while Mr. Hamid Lakhal was named as the best official of the national competition.

Round One Boxing’s Ahmed Attia was named as the best boxer of the Bahrain Domestic Boxing Event, the 15-year-old junior talent defeated Spearbros’ Yousif Ismail at the bantamweight (54kg). Bader Basael Al-Thekher won the second junior contest of the Domestic Boxing Event, he stopped his opponent in Ar-Rifa.

Bahrain will be the host of the next ISF Gymnasiade in 2024 therefore the schoolboys and the junior age groups are on the focus in their management. JD Boxing’s Mohammed Moamen won the schoolboys 51kg weight class following his tight success over Anus Ghaidouni.

Two female contests were also on the agenda of the competition, firstly JD Boxing’s Maryam Khamis stopped Asma Chougle at the women’s elite bantamweight (54kg). Secondly, a Saudi girl, Ranin Zrazou defeated Marwa Malek at the women’s middleweight (75kg) in Ar-Rifa.

JD Boxing’s ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships bronze medallist Sayed Fadhel was the best runner-up in the national competition, he lost to Mohammad Jamal Fahad 3:2 split decision in a spectacular elite bantamweight (54kg) bout.

King Muhammad Lukwago (60kg), Hussain Ali Siad (63.5kg) and Said Mayanja (67kg) dominated their elite contests. Aldoy’s Ali Asad (80kg), Omojola Oyebanjo (86kg), Abdallah Hazam Hussein (92kg) and Isaac Augustine (+92kg) won the heaviest elite weight categories.

Team Bahrain will be participating in the upcoming Asian Games in Hangzhou, China and the country is aiming another Olympic spot after their first historic quota in Tokyo.
