Forty-eight winners at the Mongolian Olympic Start National Championships
The 48 finals took place in the Mongolian Olympic Start National Boxing Championships in Ulaanbaatar. The junior girls and the schoolgirls all amazed the experts in the competition venue which shows Mongolia’s huge future potential in women’s boxing. Most of the 48 winners celebrated their first ever national titles in Mongolia.
The Mongolian Boxing Federation hosted the national events one by one in the previous months and selected the teams in all of the age groups. Their elite boxers spent a long training camp in Germany while the juniors, schoolboys, schoolgirls and the smallest kids competed in this new kind of national event.
Mr. Batnasan Tsoodol, the Secretary General of the Mongolian Boxing Federation, the former Olympic Games silver medallist and World Champion Mr. Purevdorj Serdamba, the ex-Asian Games winner Mr. Dorjnyambuu Otgondalai and a previous head coach Mr. Damdinbazar Batsuren watched the finals in the competition venue.
Boxers who were born in 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 were eligible to participate in the new national event. There are 474 boxers from 49 different teams in the Mongolian Olympic Start National Boxing Championships in Ulaanbaatar including some foreigners as well. The number of the weight classes is 48 in this national grassroots event and among them 16 are in women’s boxing.
Ten junior boys earned the titles in the national event, firstly S. Munkhjavkhlan stopped his opponent at the 44kg final. B. Sukhbat has strong family traditions in boxing and he was able to win the final by RSC, same way as T. Tsogsaikhan in the next title bout. A. Tengis (60kg) and K. Khatanbaatar (63kg) both impressed with their dominance in the finals.
N. Anujin (44kg) was the first female winner in the competition and she followed B. Suvd-Erdene at the pinweight (46kg). E. Urangoo stopped all of her opponents in the national event and earned the title of the junior bantamweight (54kg). E. Anudari (57kg) and G. Enkhgerel (+57kg) also made remarkable performance in the national event.
Another national event in the country, their Mongolian Junior National Games have been scheduled and will be held in the upcoming days. The event will be held for the 2007 and 2008 born boxers in the province of Bayankhongor to strengthen the regions’ boxing life.
