The best 96 boxers advanced to the finals in the Mongolian Olympic Start Championships

The Mongolian Boxing Federation is one of the most active boxing organizations in Asia, hosting several competitions in 2023. Their current competition, the Mongolian Olympic Start National Boxing Championships turned to its final phase, following the semi-finals have been concluded in Ulaanbaatar.

Mr. Batnasan Tsoodol, the Secretary General of the Mongolian Boxing Federation, donated the young talents with gifts and equipment following his speech. Mongolia’s former Olympic Games silver medallist and World Champion Mr. Purevdorj Serdamba, the ex-Asian Games winner Mr. Dorjnyambuu Otgondalai and a previous head coach Mr. Damdinbazar Batsuren also followed the bouts in the competition venue.

Boxers who were born in 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 are eligible to participate in the new national event. There are 474 boxers from 49 different teams in the Mongolian Olympic Start National Boxing Championships in Ulaanbaatar including some foreigners as well. The number of the weight classes is 48 in this national grassroots event and among them 16 are in women’s boxing.

The semi-finals of the Mongolian Olympic Start National Boxing Championships delivered several tight contests in the fourth day of boxing. G. Khaliun defeated L. Purevdulam at the women’s schoolgirls 42kg weight class by split decision and she will now meet G. Naran-Erdene in the final on Saturday.

B. Erkhsaran also had a tough job in the last four of the schoolgirls 44kg weight class but she managed to beat G. Orgilmaa in Ulaanbaatar. The 28kg in the 2011 born boys was one of the busiest categories in this event and two technical boxers such as S. Munkhbat and B. Munkhbayar advanced to the finals.

The ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships will be held in Astana, Kazakhstan between July 14 and 30. This is their next main target together with the East Asian Youth Games which is scheduled to be held in Ulaanbaatar from August 16.

The finals of the Mongolian Olympic Start National Boxing Championships will be held in two rings tomorrow starting from 10:00am local time.

Another national event in the country, their Mongolian Junior National Games have been scheduled next week. The event will be held for the 2007 and 2008 born boxers in the province of Bayankhongor to strengthen the regions’ boxing life.
