Kazakhstan’s top juniors shined at the Makanalin Junior Tournament in Balkhash
The Tleugerey Makanalin International Junior Tournament had 13 exciting finals in Balkhash, Kazakhstan and all of the gold medals remained in the Central Asian boxing power. Kazakhstan’s top juniors such as Aldiyar Bakhadur, Yeradil Uzakbay, Zhassulan Berdaly, Bakytzhan Aitmukhanov and Beksultan Kairatuly shined in the competition.
The new international junior event supports the development of the best talents in the Central Asian region and their neighbours. Boxers who were born in 2007 and in 2008 were able to compete in the Makanalin Junior Tournament.
Altogether 120 boxers competed in the first edition of the Makanalin Junior Tournament and strong countries sent their teams to Balkhash. Armenia, China, the regions of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Russia and Uzbekistan are competing in this important junior tournament.
Balkhash is a city in Kazakhstan located on the northern shore of the Lake Balkhash in the southeaster part of the huge country. The Lake Balkhash is the 15th largest in the world and it has the area of nearly 17,000 square kilometres.
Mr. Tleugerey Makanalin was the Master of the Sports in the Soviet Union and he became the first President in Balkhash Boxing. He worked hard to the development of boxing in the city and the competition remembers to his greatness.
Aldiyar Bakhadur is only 15 but he won the Miroshnichenko Junior Memorial Tournament this April and he repeated that performance in Balkhash where he defeated another international Kazakh boxer, Ramazan Orynbasar of Taraz in one of the best contests. Yeradil Uzakbay was also successful at the Miroshnichenko Memorial and defeated all of his rivals in Balkhash as well.
The 15-year-old Margulan Auyt from the Pavlodar region is a great future hope who walked over to the title of the featherweight (57kg) against Almaty’s No.1 Alikhan Asker. Kirill Shkuta moved down to the light welterweight (63kg) in the previous weeks and he had the skills to win this key category against Kenesaryamir Marzhikpyev.
The medallist from the Heydar Aliyev Junior Cup, Bekarys Nurmukhan succeeded at the welterweight (66kg) where he had a successful mission against Abduali Zhanibekuly. Shymkent’s Zhassulan Berdaly earned the title at the Heydar Aliyev Junior Cup but he had to be on the top in the final against Aktobe’s Igor Solovyev which he won only by 3:2 split decision.
Zhandos Alpysbayev was gold medallist at the 2021 Kazakhstan Schoolboys Nationals and he had a strong performance at the middleweight (75kg) in Balkhash. Mangystau region’s Bakytzhan Aitmukhanov is the best Kazakh junior at the light heavyweight (80kg) and he continued his strong performance in this event as well.
Kostanay’s Beksultan Kairatuly bagged a silver at the Heydar Aliyev Junior Cup and a gold at the Miroshnichenko Junior Memorial Tournament this year. He is the most experienced junior boxer in Kazakhstan defeated his main rival, Dias Ayupov once again on their re-match following the ringside doctor stopped their heavyweight (+80kg) final.
The Makanalin Junior International Tournament was one of the preparation competitions for the upcoming ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships which also be held in Kazakhstan starting from July 14.
