The Prakash Dahal Memorial Tournament will be held in Kathmandu on July 2-5
The Prakash Dahal Memorial Tournament will be held in Nepal’s capital in Kathmandu on July 2-5 during the Elorda Cup and before the ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships. The competition is relatively new in Nepal but high number of participants are expected to participate in Kathmandu.
Nepal had a quarter-finalist at the 2023 Women’s World Boxing Championships in New Delhi for the very first time and the country’s top athletes reached record-breaking results in the previous international competitions. Nepal is aiming for a medal in the upcoming Asian Games and the Prakash Dahal Memorial Tournament will support their preparations.
The elite women boxers will be able to compete at the minimumweight (48kg), the light flyweight (50kg), the flyweight (52kg), the bantamweight (54kg), the featherweight (57kg), the lightweight (60kg) and the light welterweight (63kg).
The elite male boxers will be able to participate in all of the 13 official categories from the minimumweight (48kg) up to the super heavyweight (+92kg) in the new edition of the Prakash Mahal Memorial Tournament.
Nepal had several national and regional events in the country this year, more than in the previous period. Their selection events, National Championships all support the decisions of the management to decide the team composition for the Asian Games.
