The line-ups of the quarter-finals confirmed at the IBA Men’s Elite World Boxing Championships

The last preliminary day of the IBA Men’s Elite World Boxing Championships took place in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. All of the winners are joined the quarter-finals and they are near to earn the most-awaited medals in Tashkent.

India’s Deepak eliminated the Seed No.1 Kazakh boxer, the defending World Champion Saken Bibossynov in the Round of 32 which increased his confidence for the next stage of boxing. The Indian outpointed China’s Zhang Jiamao and he controlled all of the three rounds in this preliminary flyweight (51kg) bout which means that Deepak is near to get a medal in Tashkent.

Kyrgyzstan’s National Champion Nurzhigit Dyushebayev worked hard against Algeria’s Mohammed Moziane who eliminated the two-time European Champion Daniel Asenov of Bulgaria in the previous round. The Kyrgyz boxer was patient in the exchanges and his smart boxing guaranteed for him a place in the quarter-finals. His teammate, Sanzhai Seidakmatov stopped his African rival, Zimbabwe’s Joel Hillary Josamu at the bantamweight (54kg).

Japan’s Tomoya Tsuboi moved down from the bantamweight (54kg) to the flyweight (51kg) following his gold medal at the 2021 Men’s Elite World Boxing Championships. The Japanese boxer was faster than Kenya’s David Macharia Karanja and he will now meet for the guaranteed medal Uzbekistan’s Olympic Games winner Hasanboy Dusmatov.

Chinese Taipei’s Tu Po Wei had brilliant performance in the entire championships and he was better in all aspects of boxing than Ethiopia’s Davit Bekele Wibshet. Tu dominated all of the three rounds and he had the experience to beat the East African boxer in the Round of 16 of the flyweight (51kg).

India’s Nishant Dev had experiences from the previous Men’s Elite World Boxing Championships and he prepared well to the new edition. Dev’s next opponent Palestine’s Nidal Foqahaa won two historic contests in Tashkent and he looked brave in the contest but his defensive skills were not matched to the Indian. Dev’s body shots and one of his left-handed hook was lethal in the first round of their contest and the referee stopped their bout.

Aslanbek Shymbergenov had massive advantage against Israel’s Miroslav Kapuler after six minutes of fight and his shots were too strong for his ex-Ukrainian opponent. Kapuler had to spend most of his times in the medical corner in the third round therefore Shymbergenov marched to the next stage of boxing with large margin of differences.

China’s best male boxer, Tuohetaerbieke Tanglatihan met Egypt’s Abdelgawwad Salah Orabi in the Round of 16 at the light heavyweight (80kg) on Day9. The Asian Games bronze medallist Chinese looked much quicker than the veteran Egyptian boxer and Tanglatihan knocked out his North African rival in the second round.

Kazakhstan’s Nurbek Oralbay is in better shape than in his previous big championships and the former Youth World Champion enjoyed his preliminary bout against Turkey’s Kaan Aykutsun. The next Asian winner at the light heavyweight (80kg) was Jordan’s No.1, Hussein Iashaish who had a comfortable success DR Congo’s Peter Pita Kabeji.

Kazakhstan’s Seed No.1 at the bantamweight (54kg), Makhmud Sabyrkhan was focused from the first seconds against India’s Sachin and he had the combinations to take the victory, joining the quarter-finals. Kazakhstan’s next hope, Dulat Bekbauov, the Asian Championships silver medallist at the welterweight (67kg), had a tough battle against India’s Akash but he managed to win that contest in the evening session.

Uzbekistan’s trio, Oybek Jurayev (54kg), Asadkhudja Muydinkhudjayev (67kg) and Alokhon Abdullayev (75kg) all advanced to the quarter-finals following their clear successes. Mongolia’s Battumur Misheelt (67kg) and Tajikistan’s Nekruz Salimov (75kg) joined the quarter-finals for the very first time.
