Kyrgyzstan Junior National Championships draw record number of female boxers

Showing the progress of female boxing in the country, the 2023 Kyrgyzstan Junior National Boxing Championships featured a record number of 44 girl aspirants, with nine of them getting crowned in the capital city of Bishkek.

Osh’s Perizat Zholchubekova was the first female winner in the national event, she defeated Ayturgan Temirova in the 42kg weight class. Reigning champion and international campaigner Nazbiyke Abayeva of Osh dominated all her three contests to retain the light flyweight (48kg) throne.

Talas’ Aysezim Kushubekova became the first female fighter to win four bouts in the national junior competition, beating three foes by RSC and Zhainagul Manasova of Dzhalal-Abad by points decision for the flyweight (50kg) title.

Chui region’s Alina Sizonenko had a tough battle against Dinara Tolosheva at the light bantamweight (52kg) but she managed to win that by 3:2 split decision.

Salamat Karybakunova of Naryn region had also a tight split victory in the final over Kanykey Kolchiyeva at the bantamweight (54kg) while Zarina Kurbanova and Asal Mukhamedzhanova dominated their finals.

Meanwhile, 15 junior male pugs shone the brightest among the 215 hopefuls in this year’s national tournament.

Among them was the Heydar Aliyev Junior Cup bronze medalist Alikhan Mairambekov, who overcame Mukhammadali Kasymov, Kutmanbiy Muratov and Ruslan Zhusupov in the bantamweight (54kg) class.

Umar Orusbayev (42kg) and Nurzhan Ulanbekov (44kg) opened the male finals with excellent performances before Kairat Kalmuratov triumphed over Yasur Taalaybek Uulu at the pinweight (46kg) final.

Talas region’s Nurbolot Sultanov eliminated the main favourite of the light flyweight (48kg), Salavat Oruzbayev already in the semi-finals and he had the motivation to beat Ramziddin Urmanov for the title as well.

Chui region’s Eldiyar Tenisbekov shined in the schoolboy events and he reached the top of the podium in the junior age group after beating Aman Zhumadilov in the final.

Bishkek’s schoolboys national winner Akhmadi Arvaza displayed an impressive performance in the light welterweight (63kg) division as he won all his four bouts via RSC.

Bishkek’s next sensation, Sadyr Rakhmanberdiyev (75kg), Aziret Avtandilov (80kg) and Islombek Gulamidinov (+80kg) were in different level than their opponents in Bishkek.

The newly-crowned champions boosted their chances to be selected for the Kyrgyz national squad that will compete in the upcoming ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships in August.
