Ergeshov, Livaza earn golds in Kyrgyzstan National Universiade
ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships silver medalists Bekzat Ergeshov and Omar Livaza came out victorious in the 2023 Kyrgyzstan National Universiade held at the Kozhomkul Sports Complex in Bishkek.
Ergeshov ruled the minimumweight (48kg) division as the 18-year-old national standout easily dominated both his bouts in the tournament.
Livaza, for his part, stopped all his foes before the final gong, including Asian U22 silver winner Mirzokhid Imamnazarov to top the light welterweight (63.5kg) class.
Bayel Urostombay Uulu also has international exposures and he stopped his rivals in the first rounds to take the title of the flyweight (51kg) easily. Bayaman Aliyev was a strong hope for the title at the bantamweight (54kg) and he succeeded against Nuradil Askarbekov in Bishkek.
The welterweight (67kg) was the most popular category in the National Universiade, 15 boxers competed for the medals in Bishkek. Syimyk Altynbek Uulu was highly confident in this national event and defeated Aydin Asanov in the final of the event.
Asian U22 medal winner Sultan Asankul Uulu seized the middleweight (75kg) title while Asian Youth Championships 2019 veteran Islombek Turgunov took the light heavyweight (80kg) gold. He progressed rapidly in strength which was his key weapon in the whole event including in the final against Aytenir Atabayev.
Bakyt Toktosun Uulu, who was selected to compete in the upcoming IBA Men’s World Championships, lorded over heavyweight (92kg) after decimating Elzar Temirbayev in the final.
Kerimbay Erkinov, a junior and youth bet in international tournaments, climbed to super heavyweight (+92kg) and conquered it by utilizing his speed against Esen Amanbek Uulu.
A few more champions were hailed in this year’s Kyrgyz National Universiade that pitted a total of 104 fighters across the country.
