Future stars emerge in Uzbekistan schoolboys tourney
Fifteen prodigies dazzled the brightest among 407 young boxers in the Uzbekistan Schoolboys National Championships 2023 held in the capital city of Tahskent.
It was the first national schoolboys tournament in the Central Asian powerhouse this year, pitting boxers born in 2009 and 2010.
The young talents could box at the 33kg, 35kg, 37kg, 40kg, 43kg, 46kg, 49kg, 52kg, 55kg, 58kg, 61kg, 64kg, 67kg, 70kg and +70kg weight classes in Tashkent. The 43kg weight class is the most popular category in the national event, there are 44 young participants who are aiming for the title.
The national event served as a selection for the upcoming ASBC Asian Schoolboys & Schoolgirls Championships in October in Saudi Arabia.
Artur Kenesbayev (+70kg), the younger brother of Asian youth champion Aynazar, simply outclassed his foes in his weight division to deliver Karalpakstan’s lone gold medal.
The first winner of the Uzbekistan Schoolboys National Championships was the Seed No.1 of the 33kg weight class, Abduvoris Rakhimjonov of Tashkent who defeated Khusanboy Tokhirjanov of Namangan in the final.
Tashkent’s next gold medal was achieved by Kamronbek Bakhodirov at the 35kg weight class while the city’s Imron Ismoilov lost to Bukhara’s Mukhammadali Istomov at the 37kg final.

Saidkhudja Sadillakhudjayev (55kg), Abrorbek Sharipov (49kg) and Ibrokhim Shokirjonov (46kg) also produced sensational performances for the host city.
Tashkent came out as the best team, garnering six gold medals, followed by Namangan with two golds and one silver.
Andizhan and Chyrchyk shared the third spot after bagging one gold, one silver and three bronzes.
