Myanmar marks ASBC Asian elite return after five years

Following a five-year break, Myanmar will participate in the ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships 2022 in Amman, Jordan on October 30 to November 13.

The Myanmar Boxing Federation will send the three Southeast Asian Games 2022 medalists to the continental competition.

Silver winner Naing Latt will slug it out in the men’s lightweight (60kg) division while bronze finishers Lin Htut Paing and Aye Nyein Htoo will compete in the men’s bantamweight (54kg) and women’s light flyweight (50kg) classes, respectively.

Htoo was adjudged as the Best Female Boxer in the Myanmar National Championships 2022 held in the capital city of Naypyidaw last August while Naing and Lin were also crowned national winners.

Myanmar will once again seek its first-ever Asian elite medal following a fruitless campaign in the ASBC Asian Elite Women’s Championships 2017 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
