South Korea, Mongolia hold joint training camp for ASBC elite tourney
The Boxing Association of Korea and the Mongolian Boxing Federation are conducting a joint training camp at the Daejeon Culture and Sports Center in Jeju Island, South Korea as part of their preparations for the upcoming 2022 ASBC Asian Elite Men’s & Women’s Championships.
Dubbed as the “Dream Together Joint Training Program”, the South Korean and Mongolian national team boxers are undergoing 13-day training and sparring sessions which started last August 28 and will run until September 9.
Top coaches, nutritionists and other specialists are also present in the training camp being held in a well-equipped facility.
The two federations are planning to send competitive delegations in both men’s and women’s divisions of this year’s Asian Elite Championships set to be hosted in Amman, Jordan on October 30 to November 13.
South Korea is hoping to win a gold medal this time around after coming empty-handed in last year’s edition in Dubai. The country last won a gold in 2019 in Bangkok courtesy of veteran Oh Yeon Ji in the women’s lightweight (60kg) class.
Mongolia, on the other hand, is eyeing to replicate or even surpass its surprising performance in the previous iteration where it seized three golds and five bronzes. South Korea has already selected its pugs for the continental competition while Mongolia has yet to finalize its lineup as it will still look for potential bets in its National Games.
