Thailand’s elite tilt rolls off August 25 in Muak Lek
Old guards and rising stars will clash as the Thailand Elite National Championships 2022 gets going from August 25 to 29 at the well-equipped national training camp in Muak Lek.
A total of 18 champions–nine men and nine women–will be crowned in the national elite tilt where the country’s young guns are out to prove their caliber against the veterans.
The men’s division will pit boxers in the minimumweight (48kg), flyweight (51kg), bantamweight (54kg), featherweight (57kg), lightweight (60kg), light welterweight (63.5kg), welterweight (67kg), light middleweight (71kg), middleweight (75kg) and light heavyweight (80kg).
On the other hand, the women’s class will feature minimum (48kg), light fly (50kg), fly (52kg), bantam (54kg), feather (57kg), light (60kg), light welter (63kg), welter (66kg) and middle (75kg).
Top men pugs Thitisan Panmod, Sarawut Sukthet, Khunatip Pidnuch, Peerapat Yeasungnoen and Weerapon Jongjoho will miss the national event as they are set to compete in the 14th Shokhr Boltekuly Memorial Tournament in Aktau, Kazakhstan. The Thailand Boxing Association, headed by its president and concurrent Asian Boxing Confederation (ASBC) chief Pichai Chunhavajira, will look to pick its strongest bets from the national tourney for the upcoming international competitions including the World Championships, Asian Elite Championships and Southeast Asian Games next year.
