20 Federations set to attend maiden Kuwait international competition

A total of 20 strong national federations led by Ukraine, Thailand and Uzbekistan are set to slug it out in the 1st Kuwait International Boxing Championships scheduled on July 20 to 26.

Bahrain, Bulgaria, China, Germany, Guinea-Bissau, Hong Kong, Iran, Iraq, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Paestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, United Arab Emirate, Yemen and the host country will also contend for the titles in the inaugural international tilt organized by the Kuwait Boxing Federation.

The Kuwait International Boxing Championships will pit elite male boxers born between 1982 and 2003 under the International Boxing Association (IBA) Technical Rules.

The tournament organizers included all 13 official weight categories: minimum (48kg), fly (51kg), bantam (54kg), feather (57kg), light (60kg), light welter (63.5kg), welter (67kg), light middle (71kg), middle (75kg), light heavy (80kg), cruiser (86kg), heavy (92kg) and super heavy (+92kg).

Headed by its president Mr. Mohammad Mansi Al-Enezi along with advisor and Asian Boxing Confederation (ASBC) Board of Directors member Adnan Bin Ali, the Kuwait Boxing Federation decided to stage its first international competition to help in strengthening the Western Asian region.

The federation previously hosted the 1st ASBC Asian Schoolboys Boxing Championships in August 2019 as well as the Arab Junior Boxing Championships in 2020.
