Meet another member of the ASBC Board of Directors – Mr. Sophoan Buy of Cambodia

Cambodian Boxing Federation (CBF) secretary general Sophoan Buy was elected  as one of the members of the Asian Boxing Confederation (ASBC) Board of Directors after the elections during the Extraordinary Congress conducted in Amman, Jordan over three months ago.

Buy, who finished his master’s degree in sport management at the prestigious Seoul National University in 2017, is concurrently working as advisor to the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia.

He started his career in the Cambodia NOC as personal assistant to the secretary general back in 2012 before getting promoted as deputy director of international relations and deputy director of project department.

He was appointed as secretary general of CBF in 2017, covering office management, sports promotion, event planning, relations with the International Boxing Association (IBA) and ASBC, staff administration and financial matters.

Moreover, This young sportsman is very involved in organizing the Cambodian National Championships for elite men and women boxers in the capital city of Phnom Penh. With his rich background as a sports official, Buy was appointed to a vital role in the Southeast Asian Games 2023 Organizing Committee as Cambodia is set to host the biennial regional meet for the first time.
