The Mongolian Elite National Championships started with the participation of 200 boxers
The Mongolian Elite National Championships opened with the participation of 200 female and male boxers. The competition will have seven days of boxing and 25 champions can celebrate their titles after the final session. Mongolia’s 21-year-old young female talent, Yesugen Oyuntsetseg eliminated a strong veteran boxer, Myagmardulam Nandintsetseg with top performance.
Altogether 65 women boxers attends in the Mongolian Elite National Championships in their new edition. The women’s bantamweight (54kg) is the most crowded category with the participation of 10 boxers. This is the very first time in the history of the Mongolian Women’s National Championships when all of the 12 weight categories involved to the official program including the light heavyweight (81kg) and heavyweight (+81kg).
Next to the girls, 135 elite male boxers are attending in the National Championships from the minimumweight (48kg) up to the super heavyweight (+92kg). There are more than 10 participants in seven divisions and the welterweight (67kg) is the most popular with boxers in action. Eleven boxers are competing at the super heavyweight (+92kg) which is record in the history of the National Championships.
Balsan Mungunsaran impressed in the recent competitions including at the Tashkent 2022 ASBC Asian U22 Boxing Championships. She is one of the favorites at the light flyweight (50kg) and defeated another experienced talent, Davaazereg Nomin-Erdene. In another top women’s bout of the opening sessions, ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships bronze medallist Yesugen Oyuntsetseg eliminated veteran Myagmardulam Nandintsetseg at the female bantamweight (54kg).
Mongolia’s best male boxer, Jakarta 2018 Asian Games winner and two-time ASBC Asian Champion Erdenebat Tsendbaatar returned to the competitions at the light welterweight (63.5kg) in this national event. His top rivals could be Battumur Misheelt and Byambatsogt Tuguldur in this weight class, both are younger but experienced boxers.
ASBC Asian Boxing Championships silver medallist Gan-Erdene Gankhuyag returned to the national team a few months ago and opened his campaign against Tumenjargal Ninjin in the preliminary round of the flyweight (51kg) in the national event. The Rio 2016 Olympian Gankhuyag controlled their contest with his speed and joined to the last eight in the National Championships. Aldar’s best boxer Chinzorig Baatarsukh is two-time Olympian, the defending ASBC Asian Champion and one of the most experienced athletes of the whole country. He spent short time in the ring against Gombojav Enkhsaikhan, his rival’s ringside abandoned the contest in the first round. Another top boxer at the welterweight (67kg), Ganbaatar Bayarkhuu stopped Ganbaatar Ulziibat in the third round winning the bout by RSC.
