Mr. Mohamed Kamel Shbib – Great effort that Palestine and Yemen could attend in Amman
Mr. Mohamed Kamel Shbib is one of the most experienced boxing officials in the whole Asian continent who has nearly five decades of work in our sport. Mr. Shbib is the President of the Syrian Arab Boxing Association and his nation earned medal in the ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships too.
The ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships was a long competition in Amman, Jordan with the participation of 21 teams, which is excellent during the Covid-19 pandemic. Mr. Mohamed Kamel Shbib shared with us his experiences in Amman, and introduced Syria’s plans in 2022.
“The ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships was a fantastic time for me in Amman, Jordan. I worked as Deputy with the Technical Delegate Mrs. Karina Picson and she worked very hard to make this championship in a good level together with the ITOs, Referees & Judges and the LOC.
The Opening Ceremony was very nice and the venue was good enough for this championship, which saw the participation of 355 boxers from 21 teams. About my job in the venue, I faced lot of problems but I managed them. I understand that all of the coaches want to win their contests but many of them were screaming all the time and according to the IBA rules, these are not approved.
I believe that all of us in the ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships worked hard to make this event successfully. All of the officials, boxers, coaches and volunteers prepared well to this event and have done their best during the competition.
The level of the boxers were very high in Amman, the top nations such as Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, India, Thailand, Kyrgyzstan, Iran, Jordan, Philippines and Tajikistan competed in very high level. Great effort that Palestine could participate in this championship in Amman and Yemen too.
Our Syrian boxers will attend in the upcoming Mediterranean Games in Algeria on June and in the Asian Games in China this September. We are planning to host all of our national events this year to keep our boxers fit and busy to reach good results in the international events.
I appreciate the work of all ITOs, officials, ASBC staff, referees and judges and the local organizers once again to deliver the championship in high level,” said Syria’s experienced boxing official Mr. Mohamed Kamel Shbib.
