Teenage stars as Molzhigitov and Muzaffarov are gold medallists at the Memories of Coaches of Kostanay Tournament

Kostanay hosted an international competition in Kazakhstan where top boxers competed for the medals and the titles. The Memories of Coaches of Kostanay Tournament is a new event in the boxing map but powerful young talents and experienced boxers joined to compete in Kazakhstan. Two 19-year-old super talented boxers as Kazakhstan’s Dias Molzhigitov and Uzbekistan’s Shakhzod Muzaffarov earned titles in Kostanay.

The Kazakh boxers proved excellent performance in the event while the next generations of the Uzbek talents also shined in the competition. Altogether 58 elite male boxers mostly from the U22 age group competed in the Memories of Coaches of Kostanay Tournament. Kazakhstan became the No.1 in the team ranking of the AIBA World Boxing Championships but there is not any stoppage for their best boxers.

Shodiyorjon Melikuziev is a young Uzbek talent at the minimumweight (48kg) who used his speed to beat Kazakhstan’s Dinmukhammed Ibragimov in the first final of the Memories of Coaches of Kostanay Tournament. Kazakhstan’s first gold medal in the international event was taken by Kuanysh Duisenbay who defeated a local boy, Oleg Garipov in the final of the flyweight (51kg).

Shakhzod Muzaffarov is one of the top Uzbek talents who earned gold medal at the 2021 AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships in Kielce, Poland. The 19-year-old Uzbek boxer not only attended at the bantamweight (54kg) but he dominated all of his contests in Kostanay. Aidos Arapov was born in Uzbekistan but he represents Kazakhstan and claimed gold medal at the featherweight (57kg) following his successes over young Uzbek hopes as Dilshod Abdumurodov, Samandar Kholmurodov and Fazliddin Kattakulov.

Uzbekistan’s ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships silver medallist Khurshidbek Rasuljonov was the main favourite of the lightweight (60kg) but he was defeated by his teammate, Adkhamjon Mukhiddinov in the final. Ruslan Abdullayev earned Uzbekistan’s fourth title in the Kostanay event where he had an amazing final and a narrow success over Kazakhstan’s ASBC Asian Youth Champion Yelnur Suyunbay.

Kazakhstan’s AIBA Youth World Champion Sabyrzhan Akkalykov eliminated Uzbekistan’s promising Javlonbek Yuldashev but he had a tight loss in the final to a former WSB boxer, Dilmurat Mizhitov at the welterweight (67kg). Uzbekistan’s fifth gold medal was taken by Sirajatdin Khozhakhmetov at the light middleweight (71kg) who stopped all of his opponents using his strength in Kostanay.

Kazakhstan’s top middleweight (75kg) hope is 19-year-old Dias Molzhigitov who defeated Uzbekistan’s ASBC Asian Youth Champion Sukhrobjon Kayimov and another neighbouring rival, Khavasbek Asadullayev in the event. Kazakhstan’s experienced Mukhammed Abdykhalyk and Mikhail Kokhanchik earned the titles of the light heavyweight (80kg) and cruiserweight (86kg) in Kostanay. Artem Pchelyakov and Ayboldy Daurenuly won the remaining gold medals in the new international event.
