Istanbul will be hosting the next edition of the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships in early December

The date and venue of the upcoming AIBA Women’s Elite World Boxing Championships has been revealed at the weekend. The venue of the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships is Istanbul, Turkey while its date is the early part of December.

The Turkish Boxing Federation hosted several events in the recent one and half decade including Olympic Qualifying Events, the first edition of the AIBA Women’s Youth & Junior World Boxing Championships and many other competitions. Istanbul was the host of the Istanbul Bosphorus International Tournament earlier this year which replaced the Ahmet Comert Tournament.

The official weight categories in the forthcoming AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships will be the light flyweight (48kg), flyweight (50kg), light bantamweight (52kg), bantamweight (54kg), featherweight (57kg), lightweight (60kg), light welterweight (63kg), welterweight (66kg), light middleweight (70kg), middleweight (75kg), light heavyweight (81kg) and heavyweight (+81kg).

The AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships will be a money prize event, altogether 2,4 million US dollars will be distributed between the medallists in Istanbul. The gold medallists will earn 100, 000 USD, the silver medallists 50, 000 USD while the third place will get winners 25,000 USD each.

The AIBA Men’s Elite World Boxing Championships will take place in Belgrade, Serbia between October 24 and November 6 and the registration is still available for the National Federations.
