Chongtham and Aliaskarov won the world class contests of the day at the ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships

The second competition day of the ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships was held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates where 23 youth bouts scheduled in two sessions. India’s youth No.1 Bishwamitra Chongtham eliminated his top Kazakh rival at the men’s flyweight (51kg) today. The second world class bout was won by Kazakhstan’s Bakbergen Aliaskarov who eliminated Uzbekistan’s ASBC Asian Junior Champion Login Petrov.
The number of the junior boxers is 152 while 141 youth athletes are competing in the Dubai event. Altogether 293 boxers including 84 girls are attending in the ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships.
Fifteen nations sent their boxers to the ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships in Dubai: Bahrain, India, Iran, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Kuwait, Mongolia, Nepal, Palestine, Sri Lanka, Syria, Tajikistan, United Arab Emirates and Uzbekistan. The competition is streamed in the ASBC YouTube channel and the fans can follow all of the sessions in the upcoming nearly two weeks.
The company of Green Hill is the official equipment provider as in the ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships which is a money prize event, all of the medallists can earn cash prizes. Altogether record number of 51 champions will be crowned in the ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships, 25 girls and 26 boys.
Tajikistan’s Meroj Zoidov is the first winner of Day2
Tajikistan’s Meroj Zoidov was born in 2004 and he spends his first year as youth boxer in the national team. The 17-year-old talent kept the distance in the first round against Sri Lanka’s Umayanga Godakandalage and took the lead on the scorecards. The Sri Lankan moved ahead and tried to catch the more experienced Tajik in the second and he had a few good punches but received shots from counter-attacking range. Zoidov enjoyed the third round and used some tricky movements as he felt he won the bout after two rounds. Their light flyweight (48kg) bout was won by the Tajik youngster who advanced to the quarter-finals where he will be meeting with Kazakhstan’s AIBA Youth World Champion Sanzhar Tashkenbay.
Kyrgyzstan’s Diyorbek Tilavaldiyev won his first bout by RSC
Kyrgyzstan’s Diyorbek Tilavaldiyev opened his campaign at the youth bantamweight (54kg) and he started well enough against Kuwait’s Mutlaq Alenezi and took the lead on the scorecards. The 17-year-old Kyrgyz boxer received the right to compete in a major championship at the very first time but following the first tactical round, he proved better performance in the second. The Tajik referee counted the Kuwaiti talent twice in the second round and confirmed Tilavaldiyev’s RSC success.
Mongolia’s talented Ganbaatar Gan-Erdene won his debuting contest in Dubai
Mongolia’s Ganbaatar Gan-Erdene had international experiences from the previous two and half years therefore he started the first round in confident style against Kuwait’s Osamah Al-Bathali which was the next lightweight (60kg) contest in Dubai. The Mongolian had better defensive skills and he was a hard target for the Kuwaiti boxer in the first round. Gan-Erdene increased his tempo in the second round and the referee counted Al-Bathali in the third but the Kuwaiti talent was able to box until the last gong. Al-Bathali and Gan-Erdene both proved strong developments since their last international appearance but the bout was won by the Mongolian today.
Syria won its first contest in Dubai during the afternoon session
Syria has got several issues in their country but boxing exists and their talents can compete in the national level which is the strong effort of their management. Their youth light welterweight (63.5kg) boxer Haidara Alasaly had better punches in the first round against Kuwait’s Huzaifah Al-Hulaili and took the lead on the scorecards. His opponent received a warning in the second round when Alasaly had even better performance and landed more punches. He continued in that strong way in the final round as well which means Syria won its first contest in Dubai.
Kyrgyzstan’s Ikhtiyar Nishonov caused one of the top sensations on Day2
Uzbekistan’s Bekzod Bekmurodov claimed silver medal at the Fujairah 2019 ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships at the age of 15 and he spends his first year among the youth boxers now. Bekmurodov was the high favourite against Kyrgyzstan’s Junior National Champion Ikhtiyar Nishonov who competed also in Fujairah two years ago. The 17-year-old Uzbek began the bout better and he landed jabs against the Kyrgyz talent who had also excellent footwork today. Nishonov found his best tempo in the second round and with an outstanding last he turned back their contest, causing one of the main sensations of the second competition day.
Uzbekistan’s Akhmadjon Kuziboyev won a difficult battle at the flyweight
Following Iraq’s Ishaq Jaafar’s quick RSC success over United Arab Emirates’ Salem Mohammad Al-Hussain, another youth flyweight (51kg) bout was held in the second competition day. Uzbekistan’s Akhmadjon Kuziboyev received the right at the very first time to compete in a big event and met with Palestine’s internationally experienced Wasim Abusal. The 17-year-old Uzbek used his longer reach well in the first minute but Palestine’s talent surprised him with tough left-handed hooks. Abusal accepted the rhythm of the contest but the Uzbek southpaw stepped into the gas in the second. The referee counted the talented Palestinian boxer in the second round and Kuziboyev could secure the success against a well-developed opponent.
India’s youth No.1 Bishwamitra Chongtham performed world class today
India’s ASBC Asian Junior Champion and AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships bronze medallist Bishwamitra Chongtham and his quarter-final opponent, Kazakhstan’s multiple international tournament winner Kenzhe Muratuly both moved up to the flyweight (51kg) in the recent weeks. The 18-year-old Indian was smaller than his Kazakh opponent but he worked from longer distance and jumped into the bets fighting range. Chongtham danced through the whole area of the ring and both of his hands were dangerous for the Kazakh boxer. The Indian maintained the fighting distance successfully and his punches arrived with perfect timing in the battle of the southpaw boxers. Chongtham was quicker in the exchanges and eliminated his top opponent with excellent world class performance today.
Tajikistan’s Akbarali Abdurakhmanzoda continued his nation’s winning path
Akbarali Abdurakhmanzoda lives and trains in the Sughd region in Tajikistan and won their Youth National Championships in 2020. The Tajik talent moved up to the flyweight (51kg) since that event and dictated the tempo against Kuwait’s Rashid Al-Mutairi. The 18-year-old Tajik was highly confident, moved ahead against his taller rival and his hooks were seriously dangerous for Al-Mutairi. Abdurakhmanzoda delivered his best performance in the third round when he caught his Kuwaiti rival with tough punches and advanced to the next stage of the championship.
Bakbergen Aliaskarov eliminated star Login Petrov in a fantastic battle
Uzbekistan’s Login Petrov claimed the gold medal at the Fujairah 2019 ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships and he had impressive results already as youth boxer. The Uzbek middleweight (75kg) boxer met first with his main rival in the category, Kazakhstan’s Bakbergen Aliaskarov who replaced ASBC Asian Youth Champion Sultan Babakhanov in the youth national team. The taller Kazakh began the first exchanges better but Petrov landed a decisive jab still in the opening round and the referee counted Aliaskarov. The Kazakh boxer returned to the next world class contest with tough punches therefore the scorecards showed 19:19 after six minutes. Aliaskarov wanted this success so hard and landed several amazing punches in the third round which meant he bowed out the 18-year-old Uzbek favourite in a remarkable battle.
Temirlan Mukatayev delivered the first KO of the championships
The cruiserweight (86kg) is a new AIBA weight class and it has done its debut in the second competition day at the ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships. Kazakhstan’s Temirlan Mukatayev landed multiple shots in the first minute and controlled the opening against India’s Aditya Jangu. The Indian went down to the floor following the Kazakh boxer’s lethal right-handed hook and the Hungarian referee stopped the bout confirming Mukatayev’s KO triumph after 95 seconds. The second contest of this new weight class was won by Uzbekistan’s Diyorbek Uralov who eliminated Syria’s Farouk Aljendi.
