Kyrgyzstan’s Azat Usenaliev defeated a strong rival in the opening day at the Istanbul Bosphorus International Boxing Tournament

The Istanbul Bosphorus International Boxing Tournament began with long first day program where the Asian boxers proved excellent performance once again. Turkey’s biggest city hosts the event where Kyrgyzstan’s ASBC Asian Champion Azat Usenaliev opened his campaign well against Kazakhstan’s Timur Kabdeshov.

Among the Asian National Federations, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, India, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Palestine and Bahrain sent teams to the Istanbul Bosphorus International Boxing Tournament. More than 30 nations are attending in the elite event which is another highlight in the month of March.

Uzbekistan’s Tursunoy Rakhimova is a Tokyo Olympian who opened her campaign against Morocco’s Rabab Cheddar in Istanbul. The Uzbek flyweight (51kg) boxer won all of the rounds in each scorecard and advanced to the next round in Istanbul. Kazakhstan’s AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships silver medallist Zhaina Shekerbekova also opened her campaign with a success in the smallest women’s weight category, she was slightly better than Romania’s European Champion Lacramioara Perijoc.

Kyrgyzstan’s ASBC Asian Champion and Asian Games bronze medallist Azat Usenaliev used better footwork than Kazakhstan’s Timur Kabdeshov and opened his participation in the Istanbul event with a clear success. In another top flyweight (52kg) bout, Kazakhstan’s Damir Abdykadyr caused a sensation when he defeated India’s AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships bronze medallist Lalitha Prasad Polipalli.

India’s Commonwealth Games winner Gaurav Solanki moved up to the featherweight (57kg) one and half year ago and competed successfully in several events. The strong Indian boxer had to do his very best against Kazakhstan’s younger hope Aydos Arapov but finally he succeeded in Istanbul. Kyrgyzstan’s Akylbek Esenbek Uulu joined to the national team in the end of 2019 and in spite of his lack of international experiences, he stopped Ukraine’s Mykyta Dineiev very quickly in the first round.

Kyrgyzstan’s newly crowned National Champion Dmitriy Puchnin has got strong technical skills and after his upgraded level, he received the right to compete in Istanbul. Puchnin was the Best Boxer in the last edition of the Kyrgyz National Championships and after that success he looked confident against Slovakia’s Viliam Tanko. Puchnin was effective and landed the better punches which delivered for him a strong triumph at the lightweight (63kg) over a well-experienced European rival.

Kazakhstan’s two-time ASBC Asian Youth Champion Sagyndyk Togambay achieved silver medal at the 2020 National Elite Championships. The 20-year-old super talented boxer dominated his first contest over Lithuania’s Aras Dudenas and the referee stopped their bout before the final gong. Kazakhstan’s second boxer at the heavyweight (91kg), former WSB hope Abzal Kuttybekov also advanced to the next stage of boxing after beating Peru’s experienced Jose Maria Lucar.
