The Asian National Federations are working hard to give chances and send their youth boxers to Kielce
There is strong interest in the Asian continent to attend at the upcoming AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships which will be held in Kielce, Poland in April 10-24. Many of the Asian National Federations are working hard to give chances to their youth boxers to compete in the international stage again.
The name of the age group has been changed into youth from junior in 2008 and since then Guadalajara (Mexico), Baku (Azerbaijan), Yerevan (Armenia), Sofia (Bulgaria), St. Petersburg (Russia) and Budapest (Hungary) hosted the previous editions of the AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships.
Next to Kazakhstan’s Dina Islambekova, India’s duo Nitu Ghanghas and Sakshi Choudhary earned three gold medals for the Asian continent in the women’s competition of the Budapest 2018 AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships. The 2018 edition was the first event for both genders together in the same time in Budapest.
Thailand’s Thitisan Panmod (49kg), his sensational teammate Atichai Phoemsap (60kg), Uzbekistan’s virtuoso Abdumalik Khalakov (56kg) and Kazakhstan’s powerful Nurbek Oralbay (75kg) were Asia’s last gold medallists in the men’s part of the AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships in 2018.
Several of the Asian National Federations including China, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Syria, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Chinese Taipei, Vietnam, Thailand and many others arranged national level competitions for the youth boxers in the recent one year despite of the hard Covid-19 situation.
The Adriatic Pearl Youth Tournament was one of the international preparation events for the upcoming AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships which took place in Budva, Montenegro. Powerful nations as Russia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, India, Georgia and Bulgaria all attended at the Adriatic Pearl Youth Tournament.
India’s ASBC Asian Women’s Youth Champion duo Vinka and Sanamacha Chanu Thokchom and Uzbekistan’s Farzona Fozilova achieved three gold medals for Asia in the first part of the female finals. Besides to India’s Arundhati Choudhary, four Uzbeks as Nigina Uktamova, Ibrokhim Ishjonov, Amirshokh Samadov and Jakhongir Zokirov won their weight categories in the second part of the finals. The biggest boxing powers of the Asian continent such as Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and India are planning to send maximum number of boxers to the AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships. Besides to them Thailand, Mongolia, Japan, Kyrgyzstan, Jordan, Tajikistan, Syria, Iran, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Malaysia, Nepal and several others are trying to arrange all of the documents to compete in the event and give chance for their youth boxers.
