Nepal’s next money prize event will be held for the female boxers in the International Women’s Day
Nepal is hosting a money prize event in Bagmati Province but their next competition is also scheduled for March 8. The name of the new cash money prize event is WEBOX 2021 and will be held in the International Women’s Day. Many of the top Nepali female boxers can attend in the new kind of competition including competitors from the national team.
The WEBOX 2021 will be held for the elite women boxers in the capital city of the country in Kathmandu and eight top contests have been scheduled in the gala event. The women’s weight categories will be the light flyweight (48kg), flyweight (51kg), bantamweight (54kg), featherweight (57kg), lightweight (60kg) and the light welterweight (64kg) in the new competition.
The Boxmandu Boxing Club will be hosting the event together with the Lalitpur District Boxing Association, Kavre District Boxing Association with Locals Nepal Farmstay under the guidance of the Nepal Boxing Association. The competition will be held at the second time in Nepal in order to increase the popularity of women’s boxing in the country which hosted the South Asian Games in 2019.
The event is open for the public and all of the 16 participants will be getting money prizes from the sponsors. The winner of the main contest will be getting 50,000 NRs while the runner-up earns 20,000 NRs. The women competition will be broadcasted live in the official Facebook page and YouTube channel of Webox on March 8.
The main contest of this woman competition will be held between Sushma Tamang of Naxal and Ramisha Shrestha of RDS at the light flyweight (48kg) and scheduled as Bout No.8. Sushma Tamang is one of the youngest boxers of the Nepali women’s national team who has bright future while Ramisha Shrestha also won youth competitions in the country. A veteran boxer, former ASBC Asian Women’s Boxing Championships competitor Mala Rai was also involved to the competition.
