Syrymbetov and Ishchanova claimed bronze medals at the 65th prestigious Bocskai Memorial Tournament
The 26 semi-finals were held in the fourth competition day at the 65th Bocskai Memorial Tournament in Debrecen, Hungary on Thursday. Kazakhstan’s male talent, 19-year-old Talgat Syrymbetov and one of their experienced girls, Nazym Ishchanova both claimed bronze medals in the Bocskai Memorial Tournament.
Kazakhstan Boxing Federation is very active in the boxing map, they sent a strong team to the European competition where 22 nations are attending this week. Among the top boxing nations, England, France, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Turkey, Georgia, host Hungary, Finland, Wales, Croatia, Lithuania and Algeria are also there in Debrecen. All of the winners of the third competition day advanced to the semi-finals in the international event.
Talgat Syrymbetov won bronze medal in the Bocskai Memorial Tournament
Kazakhstan’s talented Talgat Syrymbetov won the 2018 Bornemissza Youth Memorial Tournament in Eger and he attended also in the ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships in that year. The 19-year-old talent returned to Hungary to the city of Debrecen and dominated his quarter-final against taller Roland Veres.
Syrymbetov opened the first round with tough punches and he used an aggressive tactic against the most experienced Hungarian boxer, Roland Galos in the semi-final. Tokyo Olympian Galos increased his tempo in the second and adopted the high rhythm of their semi-final in Debrecen. The Hungarian landed more punches in the third round and he was able to beat the well-talented Central Asian boxer. Syrymbetov claimed bronze medal in the prestigious competition which was his first big elite international event out of Kazakhstan.
Nazym Ishchanova is also bronze medallist in Debrecen
Kazakhstan’s female national team member Nazym Ishchanova competed in the New Delhi 2018 AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships and several other big international competitions including ASBC Championships. The 23-year-old boxer decided to change her category and moved down to the featherweight (57kg) in the recent half year. Ishchanova eliminated France’s Amina Zidani who also competed at the lightweight (60kg) previously.
Ishchanova met in the semi-finals with Hungary’s Szabina Szucs who competed in three editions of the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships. The Kazakh boxer moved ahead and tried to catch the taller Hungarian from the first seconds but she received punches from counter-attacking range. The final verdict was split decision in the favour of the Hungarian boxer and earned also bronze medal in Debrecen.
