Manshuk Turganbay spent only 38 seconds in the ring at the Kazakhstan Women’s Youth & Junior National Championships

The new edition of the Women’s Youth & Junior National Championships continued with 92 tough contests in the city of Almaty. ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships silver medallist Diana Magauyayeva won her debuting contest in Almaty where a junior talent Manshuk Turganbay spent only 38 seconds in the ring.

Boxers who were born in 2003 and in 2004 are eligible to attend in the Kazakhstan Women’s Youth National Championships. The younger boxers from the 2005 and 2006 age groups can box at the Kazakhstan Women’s Junior National Championships in Almaty which holds parallel and together with the youth hopes.

The youth girls can compete in 11 categories from the pinweight (46kg) up to the heavyweight (+81kg) in Almaty. The younger junior talents can attend for the medals in 14 divisions from the pre-pinweight (44kg) up to the heavyweight (+80kg) in the Kazakhstan Women’s Youth & Junior National Championships.

The youth event is a preparation and selection before the main international goals of the year including the upcoming AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships which is scheduled to be held in Kielce, Poland on April 10-24. The junior girls have been preparing also to their upcoming international events.

Manshuk Turganbay needed only 38 seconds to beat her rival at the junior pinweight (46kg)

Almaty has got outstanding female junior team and their next big talent, Manshuk Turganbay amazed all of the experts in the second competition day. The 15-year-old pinweight (46kg) boxer landed lethal punches in the opening minute of her quarter-final against Ulpan Adilkhan and the referee stopped their unequal contest after 38 seconds of fight. Almaty region’s Yelyanur Turganova and Turkestan region’s Ayaulym Aituova also advanced to the next stage of boxing with strong performances. 

Four RSC victories in the quarter-finals of the junior flyweight (50kg)

Almaty’s Akerke Serik was highly confident in her opening bout in the Junior National Championships but she was stopped by Tomiris Myrzakul in the quarter-finals of the junior flyweight (50kg). Akmola region’s Gulazhar Zhakyp dominated her contest against Nuraina Kozhakhmet of East Kazakhstan and won the next fight by RSC. Karina Tokubay of Dzhambul region and Atyrau region’s Akmeir Zhanybekova both dominated their quarter-finals in Almaty.   

Tashkenbay bowed out an international boxer at the youth flyweight (51kg)

Turkestan region’s Azhar Tashkenbay was not the favourite against Atyrau region’s Dilnaz Bagyt but she boxed over her previous level in the preliminary round of the youth flyweight (51kg). The 17-year-old boxer shocked the more experienced Bagyt who competed at the Fujairah 2019 ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships. Tashkenbay had massive advantage after the second round and finished the contest with tough shots in the third. Adelya Iskakova of Akmola region, Almaty’s Asel Kairatkyzy and Kyzyl-Orda region’s Aruzhan Amirzhan also advanced to the quarter-finals.

ASBC medallist Diana Magauyayeva controlled her quarter-final bout at the youth heavyweight (+81kg)

Shymkent’s Diana Magauyayeva achieved silver medal at the Fujairah 2019 ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships and the 17-year-old boxer has done strong performance once again in the quarter-finals of the youth heavyweight (+81kg) in Almaty. Magauyayeva won all of the three rounds against Akmola region’s Dayana Amantayeva and she is now a guaranteed medallist in the event. Her teammate from the same city, Zhansaya Dautbek had difficulties against Almaty region’s Aruzhan Abdikerim but she managed to win that hard battle in the second day of boxing.
