Zhou Zehuan caused the surprise of the Chinese Women’s Junior National Championships
The Chinese Boxing Federation’s Women’s Junior National Championships was held together with their youth talents in the city of Qianan which is located in Hebei Province of the country. Zhou Zehuan caused the biggest surprise in the Women’s Junior National Championships following her success over China’s international boxer Zhang Tingting in the final.
Qianan hosted the 2016 edition of the Asian & Oceanian Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event on March in that year. The best boxers of that competition qualified for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games therefore Asia’s cream attended in Qianan. Young girls who were born in 2004 and in 2005 will be eligible to attend in the Chinese Women’s Junior National Boxing Championships.
The young Chinese girls impressed in the Fujairah 2019 ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships with strong successes one year ago, their team claimed one gold, two silver and two bronze medals in the United Arab Emirates. Their next generation boxers attended in the 2020 Nations Women’s Cup in Serbia in the beginning of the year.
The Chinese Boxing Federation re-launched its activities in the recent months and arranged regional and national events to keep all of their age groups fit. The motivational level of the Chinese female boxers is excellent and all of them prepared hard in the recent half year to arrange their goals in the Women’s Junior National Championships.
The first gold medal of the Chinese Women’s Junior National Championships was achieved by Chongqing’s Liang Xiyun at the pinweight (46kg) where she was too smart for Sichuan’s Du Wu Jiamao. Zhang Shuqin claimed the second gold medal in the national event after beating Sichuan’s Hu Ruiyang in the final of the light flyweight (48kg).
Guangdong produced several top results in the women’s national events and their new talent Liu Qianfang was enough strong to beat Guizhou’s Guo Xiang in the final of the flyweight (50kg). Guangxi’s Gan Yunman not only defeated Duan Sasha of Guangdong in the final of the light bantamweight (52kg) but she received one of the awards in Qianan.
Sun Jie trains in the Shanghai Sports Institute and proved the next top performance in the Junior National Championships where she was too strong for Fujian’s Wu Xiangyuan at the bantamweight (54kg). Shandong’s Yang Mengzhao had to meet with a local boxer in the final of the featherweight (57kg) but she managed to win that challenge against Ren Siyu.
Zhou Zehuan caused the biggest surprise of the of the Chinese Women’s Junior National Championships in Qianan. Inner Mongolia’s new sensation met in the final of the lightweight (60kg) with Junior National Games winner Zhang Tingting who claimed silver medal in the Women’s Junior Nations Cup in Serbia on January 2020. Zhou exceeded all of the expectations of her coaches and defeated one of the best Chinese junior boxers in Qianan.
Junior National Games winner Zhang Wenqi achieved silver medal at the Women’s Junior Nations Cup in Serbia starting the year and continued her winning path in the light middleweight (70kg). Hebei’s 16-year-old top talent defeated Shandong’s Zhu Xiaoyuan in the final of the event claiming her next national title. She won also the Best Technical Boxer Award in the Junior National Championships.
