The Technical Meeting and the Official Draw was held at the Thailand Elite National Championships

Thailand Boxing Association is hosting its National Elite Boxing Championships in the Muak Lek District which is holding from their women and men boxers from November 16th until the 22nd. The Technical Meeting and the Official Draw was held before the start of the bouts in Muak Lek where high number of top boxers will be attending for the medals.  

Altogether 213 bouts have been scheduled in the new edition of the Thailand Elite National Boxing Championships in Muak Lek. There are more than 16 boxers in almost all of the weight categories in the national event where some of the divisions are crowded with more than 25 participating athletes.

The women boxers can compete in five weight categories in the national event: at the light flyweight (48kg), at the flyweight (51kg), at the featherweight (57kg), at the lightweight (60kg) and at the welterweight (69kg).

The male boxers are competing for the medals in six different weight classes in Muak Lek: light flyweight (49kg), flyweight (52kg), featherweight (57kg), lightweight (63kg), welterweight (69kg) and middleweight (75kg).

Thailand’s super talented female flyweight (51kg) boxer Chiranchaya Phunsang have to box in the first round against Thimia Onusawangpanurungsi in Muak Lek. She is one of the favorites for the gold medal in that weight category and following her international experiences, she is aiming for the title.

Thailand’s AIBA World Boxing Championships competitor Somchay Wongsuwan has got six years of experiences in the international stage and will be opening his campaign at the lightweight (63kg) against Nantachai Boonthong. ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships bronze medallist 20-year-old Bannaphon Pannon moved up to the middleweight (75kg) and will be making his debut against Witthayathi Chukwai.

Thailand’s Youth Olympic Games winner and AIBA Youth World Champion Atichai Phoemsap moved up to the welterweight (69kg) in the recent months since the Asian & Oceanian Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event. The 20-year-old star will be making his debut in the new weight category in the national event before his international targets.

The country secured already four quota places for the Tokyo Olympic Games which were taken by their two veterans as AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships silver medallist Sudaporn Seesondee and Chatchai Decha Butdee, furthermore two teenagers. AIBA Youth World Champion Thitisan Panmod amazed all of the experts with his strong developments at the flyweight (52kg) while ASBC Asian Women’s Youth Champion 18-year-old Baison Manikon also bagged a quota place in Amman for the Olympics. Following their National Elite Boxing Championships, Thailand Boxing Association is planning to host an international event. The Thailand Open International Boxing Tournament is one of the top competitions worldwide which has been originally planned to host on April but due to the Covid-19 situation the local organizers had to postpone the event.
