The two-week long Vietnamese Youth & Junior & Schoolboys National Championships opened by President Mr. Tran Minh Tien

Vietnam Boxing Federation arranged already a few national events and training camps in the recent months to keep their boxers fit and active. The next competition, the Vietnam Youth & Junior National Boxing Championships started in Quang Ngai province where schoolboys have been added to the official program at the very first time.

The first ASBC Asian Schoolboys Boxing Championships was held in Kuwait City in August 2019 and it led the Vietnam Boxing Federation to tighten its world and open for the younger age group. The result of their discussion and work is the first edition of the Vietnam Schoolboys National Championships.

The last edition of the Vietnam Youth & Junior National Championships was held in the city of Can Tho in July 2019 where boxers who were born between 2001 and 2004 showed their talents. Some of the titleholders who are eligible to attend in the national event, returned to the new edition to defend their thrones.

The President of the Vietnam Boxing Federation Mr. Tran Minh Tien opened the Youth & Junior & Schoolboys National Boxing Championships with his speech and welcomed all of the participating teams, boxers and coaches after the fantastic opening ceremony. Vietnam’s best referees and judges are working in the national event to arrange fair play during the long competition which covers three age groups.

Following the registrations, general weigh-ins, the technical meeting, the official draw and the opening ceremony, the first sessions were already done in the Youth & Junior & Schoolboys National Championships. The national competition run through until the 31st of October due to the extremely high number of participants in Quang Ngai province. The venue of the national event is the Indoor Sport Stadium in the Nguyen Tu Tan street.

Boxers who were born in 2002 or in 2003 can attend in the Youth National Championships and in this age group their girls have got strong potential also in the international events. Vietnam claimed medals in a few youth international events, at the 2011 AIBA Women’s Youth World Boxing Championships, at the 2017 AIBA Women’s Youth World Boxing Championships and at the 2018 ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships. The younger boxers who were born in 2004 and in 2005 are eligible to compete in the Junior National Championships. Some of the junior titleholders and last year’s medallists are there in Quang Ngai province to reach their next highlights. The 2006-2007 age group can compete in the schoolboy level and its champions will be the first historical winners in Vietnam.
