ASBC Future Stars – Iraq’s middleweight talent 20-year-old Reda Talib Jabbar

Iraq has got impressive potential of boxing in our continent and their management introduced their future plans in the recent weeks. Reda Talib Jabbar is Iraq’s future hope who turned to 20 this year and he is ready to attend in the international stage once again following his first appearance at the Bangkok 2017 ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships.

The campaign for the ASBC Future Stars is the one of the new projects of the Asian Boxing Confederation to introduce our best talents from the grassroots before their expected amazing elite results. Asia proved its amazing strength in the recent years and all of the regions of the continent have potential future stars.

Iraq’s Reda Talib Jabbar was born in the year of 2000 and began his boxing career at the age of 6 as a small child in Baghdad. Following 14-years of experiences in the sport, Iraq’s hope is ready to get strong results among the elite boxers and celebrated his 20th birthday with great enthusiasm and motivation for the future.

Reda Talib Jabbar won the title at the Iraqi Youth National Championships twice in 2017 and in 2018 dominating all of his contests. He attended also at the Bangkok 2017 ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships three years ago on July which was his first international appearance out of Iraq.

He joined to the elite age group on January 2019 and quickly won the middleweight (75kg) at the Iraqi National Championships. Reda Talib Jabbar suffered a hand injury before the Asian & Oceanian Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event and he had to miss the competition but he is ready to compete in the 2021 World Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event.

Reda Talib Jabbar’s coach Mr. Farouk Jawad was quarter-finalist at the Moscow 1980 Olympic Games which was one of the top results of Iraq’s boxing life. Mr. Farouk Jawad defeated a Nigerian and knocked out a Ugandan boxer before lost to Cuba’s Jose Aguilar in the quarter-finals of the light welterweight (63.5kg) in the Olympics 40 years ago.

The Iraqi Boxing Federation have got new strategic long-term plans to build up their next stage of future following plenty of medals in the recent ten years. Iraq has got bright and impressive history in boxing, the sport was born in the area of the country five-thousands year ago and the Iraqi Boxing Federation is proud of their long traditions.
