India’s Muskan and Diya Negi opened in style at the 11th Golden Girl Box Cup which has record number of 297 boxers in Boras

The 11th edition of the Golden Girl Box Cup has got an excellent brand name after the previous editions and high number of nations joined to the event this year as well. The Golden Girl Box Cup is holding in a small city in Boras which is located in the south part of Sweden. Among the top Indian boxers Muskan and Diya Negi both started with triumphs in the opening day of boxing at the Golden Girl Box Cup.

Altogether 297 boxers are attending in the Golden Girl Box Cup which is record in the history of the event and makes it to the biggest female boxing competition in the whole world. The Indian junior and youth boxers are competing for the medals in the event increasing the quality of the tournament. The first competition day saw more than 80 bouts in the city of Boras which is a preparation tournament before the main goals in 2020.

India’s Muskan claimed silver medal in their 2019 Youth National Championships and represented India at the Julius Torma Youth Memorial Tournament last September. The 17-year-old Indian talent moved up two categories in the recent months and opened her campaign in the Golden Girl Box Cup already on Day1. The Indian talent was too strong for Germany’s Lina Nashwan at the youth bantamweight (54kg) and advanced to the next stage.

India’s Diya Negi walked over to the next round following her opponent Netherlands’ experienced Megan De Cler was unable to compete on Day1 due an illness. The Indian boxer advanced to the semi-finals of the junior lightweight (60kg) which is a strong category at the Golden Girl Box Cup.
