Mr. Nader Jayousi – We made a history and Palestine’s boxers can now believe it is possible to get a medal in a continental event
Palestine claimed a historical bronze medal at the ASBC Asian Schoolboys Boxing Championships which was achieved by Zaid Shkokani at the 58kg weight class in Kuwait City. The head coach of the squad Mr. Nader Jayousi is owner of a boxing club besides to his duties in the national level. We asked him to introduce their preparation and the background of their success in Kuwait City.
“We made a history here at the ASBC Asian Schoolboys Boxing Championships with our bronze medal. That is what we have worked for from the beginning. We knew we will get there, we all believed in the vision such as the federation’s officials, families of the athletes, coaches and the boxers themselves. This medal will be a remark for Palestine’s boxing and I am sure all of the experts could recognize a more confident team in the near future.
Two of our boxers prepared for this ASBC Asian Schoolboys Boxing Championships with their club Elbarrio at the Black Forest Cup in Germany which was held on June. On that strong international competition these talents have done a lot of fights and sparring matches against tough opponents.
We came back to Palestine and all of the team boxers competed at the National Championships. Following the national event, we continued our preparation with an internal training camp in Palestine where we tried our best to bring all talents from the country and mix them together.
In our trainings we focused a lot on the physical preparation because we knew most of the strong Asian boxing nations will have an advantage on us in term of number of bouts and experiences. We wanted our boys to be ready for a big physical challenge which worked well with our 55kg talent.
The Palestinian boxers can now believe it is possible for them to get a medal in a strong continent event,“ said the Palestinian head coach Mr. Nader Jayousi who worked hard in the recent years to get this valuable success.
