200 boxers from 29 nations including two Olympic Champions are registered to the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships

The new edition of the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships will be held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan which will be more than important for all of the men’s elite boxers due its qualification for the Hamburg 2017 AIBA World Boxing Championships. The competition period of the upcoming ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships in Tashkent is April 30 – May 7.
Boxers who were born between 1977 and 1998 are eligible to box in the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships in Tashkent. The Asian boxers proved strong performance in the recent Rio 2016 Olympic Games and in the qualification events and several of our stars will be there also in Tashkent.
Altogether 200 men elite boxers from 29 different countries excluding the reserve athletes are registered to take part in the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships in Tashkent. All of the Asian region will be sending boxers to the Uzbek capital from the Western area to the Southeast as well.
China, India, Iran, Jordan, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Mongolia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan are planning to send maximum number of 10 boxers to the upcoming ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships. Chinese Taipei, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Philippines and Turkmenistan all will be competing with big delegations.
Among the developing Asian boxing countries Afghanistan, Bhutan, Lebanon, Nepal, Palestine, Qatar, Singapore and United Arab Emirates all will be attending in the competition. Iraq and Syria have got serious crisis in their countries but both nations will be there in the start of the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships which show their excellent commitment to the sport.
Afghanistan, Malaysia, Palestine, Singapore and United Arab Emirates did not take part in the last edition of the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships but this time they will send a delegation to Tashkent. Singapore’s men elite boxers competed last time in the 2002 Asian Boxing Championships in Seremban, Malaysia while United Arab Emirates will be a debutant in the elite level of the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships.
Uzbekistan’s Olympic Champions duo Hasanboy Dusmatov and Shakhobiddin Zoirov are on the entry list while three of their further Rio medallists such as Murodjon Akhmadaliev, Shakhram Giyasov and Bektemir Melikuziev all will be there in Tashkent. Among the further Asian Olympic medallists Kazakhstan’s heavyweight (91kg) No.1 Vassiliy Levit and Mongolia’s Dorjnyambuu Otgondalai are registered to the competition.
Among the twelve Asian medallists from the Doha 2015 AIBA World Boxing Championships seven are registered to the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships. Four of the titleholders of the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships will have the chance to defend their thrones in Tashkent.
The ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships will be the lone qualification event for the Hamburg 2017 AIBA World Boxing Championships. Asia has got 60 quota places for the Hamburg 2017 AIBA World Boxing Championships, six in each weight classes. The best six boxers from the light flyweight (49kg) up to the super heavyweight (+91kg) will be qualified for the Hamburg 2017 AIBA World Boxing Championships.
The first edition of the Asian Boxing Championships was held in Bangkok, Thailand in 1963 when Japan was the most successful country. Following the Asian Boxing Confederation has been formed ten years ago four editions were taken place in Zhuhai (China), Incheon (South Korea), Amman (Jordan) and Bangkok (Thailand).
The last edition of the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships was held in Bangkok, Thailand where the competition was 10 days-length. Kazakhstan topped the medal standings winning five gold medals in Bangkok, Uzbekistan and host Thailand both secured two top positions while Mongolia also bagged a title in the 28th edition of the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships.
The capital city of Uzbekistan, Tashkent hosted the 1995 Asian Boxing Championships and also the edition in 1999. Tashkent welcomed the delegations last time in the 2015 ASBC Asian Confederation Junior Boxing Championships with great success two years ago. Tashkent also hosted WSB matches in Season VI and will be also among the venues in Season VII while two rounds of AIBA Pro Boxing matches also taken place in the Uzbek capital.
