1st Iranian Festival of Talents conclude with 38 winners
The Iranian Boxing Federation, led by its new interim president Roohollah Hosseini, successfully hosted the inaugural edition of the Iranian Festival of Talents Boxing Tournament for the schoolboys age group in the city of Ghom.
The new event gave the 105 young aspirants across the country the chance to showcase their wares and get scouted for the national team.
Thirty-eight of the new generation talents dazzled the brightest in the second national competition after the National Elite Qualifier last month in the capital city of Tehran.
Eimen Amoudi was the first winner of the entire competition, he defeated Amir Hossein Abdoli at the smallest 25kg weight class. Mazandaran is famous of their boxing schools and the first winner from the city was Sepanta Gorji at the 27kg after beating Mohammad Tala Saadati by 3:2 split decision.
The ninth winner of the event was Amir Arsalan Kordi from Lorestan who earned the title in the one of the busiest weight categories of the National Festival. He became from a boxing family and continued the tradition with a gold medal after beating Kiarash Zanganeh at the 31.5kg weight category. Esfahan’s Ali Khodadadi was too experienced for Parsa Areyeshi in the next important final of the national competition at the 33kg weight class.
Among the notable winners were Mohammad Alidoost (35kg), Sahand Farshad (38.5kg), Eilya Eftekhari Poor (40kg), Mohammad Medanlo (42kg), Amir Ali Noori (43kg), Seyed Mohammad Ebrahimi (49kg), Matin Behmard (55kg) and Parsa Haroon Asad Shidi (64kg).
Iran is looking to pick the best young boxers as it plans to compete in the ASBC Asian Schoolboys & Schoolgirls Boxing Championships 2023 slated in Saudi Arabia on October 1-7.
The Iranians participated in the first-ever ASBC Schoolboys Championships back in 2019 in Kuwait City.
